What: TAFFY: Transactors for Families performs before a performance of the children's story "The Wonderful Life of a Fly Who Couldn't Fly." Tickets are $5.

Who goes: All ages

What to know before you go: This is the third year of Common Ground's theater camp for kids. The weeklong camp ends with a big performance: Improv from TAFFY, made up of members of Transactors Improv, the local improv group, followed by a performance from the kids. Rachel Klem of Common Ground and Transactors says the improv is fun for kids of all ages.

The actors will get suggestions from the audience -- emotions to be acted out in a skit or a fairy tale that's never been written. A few of the kids from the summer camp will help out during the 20- to 25-minute performance.

"We tend to be very silly because it's for the kids, very physical improv," Klem says.

After the improv, the kids, ages 5 to 11, will show off what they learned the week before.

They will perform the story of "The Wonderful Life of a Fly Who Couldn't Fly," an adaptation of the children's book by Bo Lozoff about a fly who is born without wings. The fly sets out on a journey to find out what her special purpose is.

"It really addresses the idea of differently abled people and finding everybody matters and changes things regardless of how they're made," Klem says.

Sure the audience is made up of mostly friends and family of the kids in the camp, but what young child doesn't love to shout out orders to a bunch of adults or watch older kids?

Reservations are necessary so call the theater in advance if you plan to go at (919) 698-3870 or go to www.cgtheatre.com for more information and detailed directions to the theater.

If you can't make it this weekend, there's another opportunity in August. On Aug. 23, the camp's second session will perform "Goodnight, Animals," featuring the music from Saint-Saens "Carnival of the Animals."
