Overview

About 250 journalists make up The News & Observer's newsrooms in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. In addition to reporters and editors, each day's edition depends on the expertise of photographers, researchers, graphic artists, copy editors, and page designers.

The N&O publishes four editions most days. The state edition is the first to be printed and is distributed across eastern North Carolina. It is followed by the Orange and Durham editions. Last off the press is the final edition, which concentrates on Raleigh and Wake County.

To meet the interests of a diverse readership, we publish many special sections and regular features. We also actively encourage reader involvement in the news process and content.

Reporters and editors are accessible by phone or e-mail. (Reporters' direct phone numbers and e-mail addresses are attached to each story.)

The News & Observer is pleased to be able to offer its users the opportunity to make comments and hold conversations online. However, the interactive nature of the internet makes it impracticable for our staff to monitor each and every posting.

Since The News & Observer does not control user submitted statements, we cannot promise that readers will not occasionally find offensive or inaccurate comments posted on our website. In addition, we remind anyone interested in making an online comment that responsibility for statements posted lies with the person submitting the comment, not The News and Observer.

If you find a comment offensive, clicking on the exclamation icon will flag the comment for review by the administrators, we are counting on the good judgment of all our readers to help us.
