RALEIGH - Police are searching for a lone bandit who robbed a bank just north of downtown Tuesday afternoon, a 911 dispatcher reported.

The robbery was reported at 12:45 p.m.

The dispatcher said a man walked into the First Citizens bank at 2001 Fairview Road and demanded money. The man fled on foot, police reported.

The robber implied he had a weapon, the dispatcher said. No injuries were reported.

Police concentrated their search for the robber near downtown along West and Hargett streets and at Glenwood Towers on Glenwood Avenue, according to dispatch reports.

The N.C. Bankers Association is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
