GARDEN TOURS

Homeowners in the Wood Valley subdivision will be opening their garden gates for the annual Wood Valley Garden Walk on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The self-guided tour includes eight gardens in Wood Valley, which is located off I-540 and Norwood Road.

The gardens will offer planting and landscaping ideas, including rose, perennial and vegetable gardens. Guests will see extensive stone and retaining wall designs, a total revamp of a once dark and overgrown yard into a tranquil garden, complete with deer spritzers, and a garden that has been on many of the citywide and national garden tours. An added feature to this year's garden walk is music in the garden. A string quartet with students from the Leesville Road High School orchestra will be playing music in one of the gardens on this year's tour.

Maps and garden descriptions will be available at the Wood Valley Clubhouse, 10316 Boxelder Drive, Raleigh. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available for purchase. If it rains, the event will be held on May 18. For more information, call 926-7501.
