Stop the madness

Has anyone thought of declaring a "market holiday" to try and stop the out-of-control slide on Wall Street? Let all the trading stop for three or four days, everyone cool off, stop making gloom-and-doom statements to the media, and let some of the fuss calm down.

Meanwhile, those who are trying to right the ship can work and then when the markets reopen, perhaps the picture, although still not perfect, might be a little brighter.

President Roosevelt declared a "bank holiday" in the 1930s to try to stop the massive runs on banks that were happening then. Sounds like a plan to me!
