Tod Morgan was appointed basketball coach at Chapel Hill High School on Wednesday.

Morgan replaces Paul Kieckbusch, who amassed a 13-59 record in three seasons.

"He's the right fit at the right time with his North Carolina experience and contacts," Chapel Hill athletic director Ronnie Hayes said of Morgan. "He is very knowledgeable about basketball. He is the right man for the job."

Last season, Morgan led Goldsboro to a 17-12 record, falling to Jacksonville Northside in the sectional playoffs. It was Morgan's first year at Goldsboro. Before that he had 106 victories in stops at Cape Hatteras, Greene Central and New Bern, where he finished 17-9 in his third and final season before the Goldsboro move.

Kieckbusch finished the 2007-08 season 6-17.

He will remain a teacher at Chapel Hill, Hayes said, and his basketball camp scheduled for July will go on.
