CHAPEL HILL - Two children who were among the seven people injured early Thursday when a tornado demolished their Columbus County mobile home park remained in critical condition at UNC Hospitals on Sunday night.

Two other children under age 12 are in stable condition at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, according to Columbus County Commissioner Kip Godwin. Three adults also remain hospitalized at New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington. Two are in good condition, with the third in fair condition.

The twister touched down early Thursday morning in Armour, an unincorporated community in eastern Columbus County about 20 miles outside Wilmington. Eight people from three separate families died after the tornado's 200 mph winds ripped apart 13 homes and an auto repair shop and damaged or affected 28 other homes.
